Our Story

The Ontulili River Corridor between the edge of the Mount Kenya Forest and Kwa Mwaura center is home to many species of plant and animal, including three resident primates - black and white colobus, highland sykes monkey, and the lesser bushbaby.

Ontulili Primates Protection (OPP) was initiated by two riparian landowners who recognise that degradation of the riverine forest habitat is a significant factor that limits primate population sizes and distribution, and the Group’s aim is to restore and conserve this habitat to optimise its carrying capacity for the three resident primates and, by default, other local wildlife species.
