Our Passion

The Ontulili Primates Protection (OPP) established in 2020 is a non-profit group of community women dedicated to protecting the black and white colobus monkey, other primate species, and wider biodiversity along a riverine area of the Ontulili River, Laikipia County, central Kenya.

On behalf of the Ontulili Primates Protection Board (OPP), I am sorry to announce the passing of the Vice Chair and Co-Founder of OPP Caren Tankard on 1 November 2022.

Caren’s love of wildlife conservation and particularly the primates were not lost on anyone who knew her. She will be missed by all including the children in the local community.

Caren’s legacy will live on as the OPP Board and it’s partners move to uphold her passion and commitment to promoting the harmonious coexistence of humans, forests and wildlife along the Ontulili river in Laikipia Kenya.

The Board looks forward to planning a series of events in celebration of Caren’s life in the coming weeks.

Camille Wekesa (Chair / Co-Founder OPP)
