Art and Nature
Happy children learning about nature through art
Local children’s art and nature classes (ages 6-10) focus on the environment and wildlife using art as a tool in teaching the younger generation to make visual connections about primates, birds, wildlife, a healthy clean environment and riverine health. OPP is now also supported by a professional artist-in-residence program (ages 10-18) whereby Kenya’s top artists run creative workshops and pass on their individual skills. All the professional artists make a living from their chosen skill, travel to local and international residencies and are experienced with teaching programs. The professional artists also provide mentorship during the workshops as well as pass on creative skills such as drawing, design, print, woodwork, photography, basketry, performance art, sculpture etc therefore opening up creative possibilities for the local youth along the Ontulili river.
